Ilse Aucamp is a director of Ptersa Environmental Management Consultants, a consulting firm based in South Africa. Ilse initiated a process for the establishment of a working group for SIA in South Africa. Part of the tasks of the working group is creating SIA guidelines specific to the South African context and establishing an online network and community of professionals.
Ilse presents short courses on SIA at the Centre for Environmental Management at the Northwest University, and frequently act as guest lecturer in post graduate programmes across South Africa.
As a consultant, she focuses on SIA in different sectors, doing work in all phases of the project-cycle including management and auditing. Her expertise includes facilitation of grassroots communities, identification of social development opportunities, strategic analysis and livelihood assessments.
Ilse’s work aims to investigate the links between social impact assessment, social development and sustainable livelihoods in a multi-cultural context.
