The Principal Social Development Specialist will provide key policy advice on Gender and Development (GAD) issues, lead on the implementation of Bank-wide standards on gender mainstreaming in operations, acceleration, monitoring and reporting, and produce knowledge products as well as other services on current gender issues.
The ideal candidate must be from one of ADB’s 67 member countries (https://www.adb.org/about/members), hold a relevant Master’s Degree (or Bachelor’s Degree along with specialized experience in similar organisations, with preference for IFIs) in the Social Sciences, preferably involving gender studies. S/he must have substantial senior-level experience in GAD policy development and implementation as well as experience at the international or regional level, including in at least one Asian country.

ESRM is a phased 3-year program that will support the enabling environment and build market capacity for improved E&S performance of FIs and their clients working with local partner organizations in selected countries such as Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana. Through direct engagement with the regulator and other institutions driving standards at the market level, the program aims to influence E&S policy/regulatory change. In parallel, the program will focus on building capacity of financial institutions and local consultants, who will service the needs of FIs in Africa to improve E&S performance.

The SURR GP is recruiting multiple Senior Social Development Specialists who will provide support in meeting the Bank's expanding ESF and social safeguards agenda and promote the social sustainability of its investments. They will report directly to a regional Practice Manager, and will be expected to work closely with country units and Task Teams across the relevant region. The selected candidates will also be expected to work collaboratively and develop good relations with the corporate safeguards team, and the Bank-wide Social Sustainability and Safeguards Global Solutions Group (GSG), coordinated by the Global Lead.
