Submission to NSW Planning Review

Type:   Government policy
Topic:   Policy assessment
Date submitted:   3/11/2011
Member:   Dr Alison Ziller

This is a submission to the NSW Planning System Review arguing that current NSW planning legislation hinders due diligence in social impact assessment with regard to land use planning and development.

The submission shows some social consequences for NSW of the current focus of the NSW Environment Planning and Assessment Act 1979, documents the way in which the Act privileges environmental over social considerations and proposes some simple changes which would improve the situation.
