Webminar: Gender in large-scale infrastructure
13 November 2015 -
Various,
"Gender in large-scale infrastructure: What we know, what we need & the out-of-the-box opportunities" Gender mainstreaming in the energy sector is taking place from national policies, to institutional reforms and project development—increasing energy access and providing a low emission development pathways for many around the world. It has been a central pillar of the commitments towards achieving universal access to modern energy and is recognized as a cornerstone within the Sustainable Development Goals. While efforts at integrating gender considerations into climate change and the renewable energy sector have progressed over the years, most progress has taken place in small scale, community-based projects. Though these initiatives demonstrate ways in which engaging women improves the success of energy access and climate mitigation efforts, the results are often not well documented. A significant knowledge gap on gender and mid- to large-scale renewable energy projects exists. This webinar is a part of the GECCO Energy webinar series and will highlight some of the related information gaps, as well as difficulties in addressing gender considerations within mid- to large-scale renewable energy projects and what solutions exist for increasing access to benefits by women and men of communities located in the project’s vicinity. The content of this webinar will be further expanded by succeeding learning sessions. Register for the webinar here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7707359177706968577
