15 October 2015 |
Global, |
The Special Issue of Environmental Impact Assessment Review will address the implications of proponent control of IA, and examine alternative or complimentary approaches that can help overcome any shortcomings associated with it. |
Papers invited should: · Offer theoretical insights that enhance understanding of the role and power of proponents in IA; · Document empirically the impact of proponent control of IA on the quality of IA processes and outcomes, including cases where its impact on quality is positive; · Discuss how state regulation or policy can address drawbacks associated with proponent control; · Outline alternative approaches to the design and conduct of IA, such as community controlled IA; joint community-proponent conduct of IA; and IA undertaken by parties with no direct interest in a project, for example independent statutory agencies or Non-Government Organisations. Full length research articles or shorter ‘Viewpoint’ articles are both welcomed. All papers will be submitted and reviewed via Elsevier Editorial System (EES) at http://ees.elsevier.com/eir. When submitting a paper, please indicate in the drop down menu that it is for the special issue ‘Proponent Control of IA’. |
